Kayak Tours at the Wharf
It's said that to truly appreciate Onancock, you must see it from the water. From Onancock's Historic Wharf, we will explore Onancock Creek's enticing mix of fringe salt marshes and water views of 19th Century homes. In its quiet reaches, this Chesapeake Bay tributary's shallow water and mud flats make for prime wading bird habitat. Along its forested shorelines migrating songbirds find both shelter and food. Bald eagles nest in the tall loblolly pines, and as you paddle out the Creek's main branch, osprey nests crown the channel markers. You'll also hear stories about this 1680 Colonial port town and its trading vessel captains who built many of the town's finest homes.
This tour is suitable for all skill levels. SouthEast Expedition provides kayaks, life jackets and paddles. Your guide is a trained naturalist and kayak instructor. Guests should wear clothing appropriate for being on the water, and are responsible for drinking water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, hats, sunglasses, shoes that can get wet, and binoculars.

Artistic Impressions by Shirley - Oil and Watercolor Paintings. Techniques like texturing, layering, scratching, dripping, salting and the fundamentals of creating eye-catching compositions are a part of her work. Living on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay has inspired her to paint incredible skies and natural landscapes. She has done well to capture light, skies, depth, birds, waterscapes, and focal points into her landscape paintings. A few added mixed-media techniques and some special tricks have helped to use color, texture, and value in a new way.
